Columbia Man, Child Homeless After Hit-Run Car Slams Into Apartment While They Slept

A man and child were left homeless after a car slammed into their apartment while they slept Sunday night.

A car struck into the home at 458 Cherry St. in Columbia Borough, Lancaster County at 11:10 p.m. on Sunday

The impact of the crash caused significant damage to the building leaving it uninhabitable, police said.

The first floor apartment had a wall completely collapse into the living room, landing a couch, according to a police report. 

The man and child were asleep on the second floor of the building at the time of the accident, neither were injured.

The vehicle that hit the building fled the scene, according to police. It is believed to be Lexus with damage to the front end, as a damaged Lexus front plate was found in the rubble.
